I'm going back to my childhood and have been binge watching MST3K. I loved every saturday night and felt so bad when the instrumental outro credits music played.

(4,906 posts)Produced by Norman Lear, there were about 300 episodes made between 1976-7.
The production values are hilariously shoddy, but they must have had a blast writing it. Many topics still relevant today -- the religious right, LGBTQ, fake preachers, women's lib, layoffs, unemployment, alcoholism, domestic abuse, etc.
Plus Mary Kay Place is adorable as Loretta Haggers, the soon-to-be-famous country and western singer.

Captain Zero
(6,823 posts)It does appear to have some relationship with historical accuracy because after all there was a King Alfred the Great in England. And there were five Saxon kingdoms.
However I will concede that a great deal of the bludgeoning and stabbing and swordsmanship may be embellishment. 🙂
Zorro
(15,749 posts)Better than Game of Thrones, IMO.

Just got a temporary phone line run a couple of hours ago - back to contact with the world! Our line got cut last Thursday and it will take about three weeks before they can come and bury a new line all the way from the road to our house. Considering that our driveway is nearly a quarter of a mile long, that's not too bad.

(14,933 posts)Babylon 5 this past Thurs.
Great, groundbreaking SF series, written as a novel for tv.
It's a five year (22 eps each) series. Watching 2-3 eps every other day or so.
