I'm not a big fan of the stuff, but they are polite.

The whisky company took issue with the cover's obvious inspiration. Christy Susman, Jack Daniel's senior attorney of trademarks, sent Wensink a letter requesting he change it in the book's next printing. What's unusual, however, is the letter's polite and conciliatory tone.

I wonder if anyone else has ever received a cease and desist letter that improved their day. I kind of doubt it.

(50,562 posts)I have been to Moore County. It is one of the most relaxed places I've ever visited...well, except for the part about not being able to buy the product of its largest employer.
A guy who works for Jack Daniel's explained to me why Tennessee is called the Volunteer State. It turns out that one of the benefits of working for Jack Daniel's is receiving one free pint per month. (It's handed out on the first Friday of the month, and the distribution date has been nicknamed 'Good Friday.') A lot of their staff is husbands and wives, and some of the wives don't drink Jack so therefore turn the free bottle over to the husband. If you drink two pints of Jack Daniel in one sitting, you'll volunteer for damn near anything.
