Good documentary: Persona: The Dark Truth Behind Personality Tests

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt14173880/ Available on HBO.

Persona: The Dark Truth Behind Personality Tests is a documentary that explores the development and use of personality tests, focusing mainly on the Myers-Briggs and "Big Five" personality inventories. It outlines how they were developed, and how they are used to screen prospective hires in businesses ranging from Wall St, to McDonalds.

I got interested in online employment screening when I was contemplating returning to work after a retiring from a consulting career. I immediately ran into problems completing applications that could not accommodate employment gaps (retirement), or nonlinear careers, such as gig workers, intermittent contract workers, or those who juggled multiple jobs.

Personality test questions are now being embedded in these applications.

The documentary raises profound questions about what type of society we will become if increasing numbers of citizens are blocked from employment due to these biased programs. Newer versions require applicants to do video interviews that are subjected to facial recognition AI algorithms.

The growth of this type of insidious discrimination will have tragic consequences for society. We must resist it.

Here is another indepth article that gives tips on how to answer the test questions, followed by great comments.

What worries me more is all the people who pass them. I guess that's how they find all the corporate psychopaths and incompetents.

There was one question:

If you were an animal, which one would you like to be?

I flunked the test.

Instead of answering with lion, tiger, or bear (it was multiple choice)

I answered "BIRD"!!!!!!!

Church uses personality tests on thier parishoners.

Assembly of god is a evilgelical church. Bet its chockfull of magats now.

They tried to give me the test during a bible study. I recognized the questions.

I asked why are they using a personality tests on people that are designed for psychiatrists psychologists to use? You are a layperson..why are you doing this?

What are you hoping to find out about us. This test could be used to manipulate people or control them or hurt them.

They didnt have an answer.

I refused to take it. When I pushed the test back at the dude running the group 3/4ths of the group gave thier tests back too.

I wonder if they used tests like that to tailor propaganda at them.

They knew how to manipulate people via music. Once the weird fever dream of the cult wore off, I clearly saw what they were doing and it made me almost physically sick.

I think they were data mining for authoritarian personalities.

When they kicked me out, I ask why and they said I ask too many questions.
That pretty much answered all of my questions.
