The Rays lose the World Series to the Phillies in the seventh game at the Trop after the lights go out just as Wander Franco's potential two-out, two-run walk-off homer in the ninth is in mid-flight. Nobody sees where it lands. The umps decide it's a do-over and after lights return Franco grounds out weakly to first.
Led by cute k-pop animatron groups, disco makes a huge comeback, landing six songs in the top ten by the year's end. President Biden hosts Nicki Manaj and Fred Durst performing a disco version of the Star-Spangled Banner at a White House gala honoring the world champion Phillies and is subsequently impeached.
Insects unionize and honey futures soar.
