I think Kent State woke me up. I was already headed that way after RFK was killed (that crushed me), and Watergate was the last straw. I had hope then that the nation could be saved if we worked on it, but that hope has been badly dashed in the past 40 years. I don't know if it can be resurrected or not--it's not looking so great.

Along with everything else, there was a concerted effort to crush the "counter culture". (Which Meese had already been doing for Reagan in California.)
They succeeded by having two corporations buy every independent radio station in America, thus gaining total control of airplay, and creating the right wing a.m. hate jocks.
