Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsA sad update on fixing my hot water heater...
The valve (part that needs replacing for the hot water) is being sent to our plumber and will take 2 to 4 days to get here. We only have 1 full bath.
So no warm showers for a few days! I'll sit on the tub bench (hubby's handicapped) and use a wash cloth as delicately as possible so I don't freeze trying to get cleaned up.
Happy New Year everyone!

(63,912 posts)fortunately, I don't cook much any more so not that many dishes/pots/pans will need to be washed by hand. I can get sturdy cardboard plates and use plastic cups.
Hoping for only a 2 day wait but not getting my hopes up. It sucks that it's come at New Years (which is our 37th wedding anniversary).

(86,636 posts)If you have running water-?, can you heat some in a tea kettle and add it to a larger basin in the tub and use that? I did that for two months, long story, but I had an eight gallon pot and I heated that an used the water all day long. When I bathed, I took it to the bathtub empty and filled it with a combo of tap and boiled water from a kettle. I used a big gulp cup to pour the water over me. I have always had really long hair and that was the best I could do back then. The good part was that I was at least indoors with no breeze to freeze me. Having a shower bench would make this easier.

(63,912 posts)on the staircase as it is. My cleaning lady is coming on Sunday so she might be able to do it for me.
From my trucking days when showers were a luxury, I would use a spray bottle with just water, position on a folded towel, wet area to be washed, soap it and spray rinse, use an additional towel for drying. Goes pretty quick you don't get cold as long as the room is not freezing.

2na"s tried and true travel tips! Waiting a day or two doesn't seem so terribly long when you can clean up without a major production.

(16,412 posts)I don't understand why the manufacturers are still allowed to put the word "flushable" on the packaging. It's so wrong!

(21,155 posts)Luckily I was able you get a plumber and they replaced it. But it cost me $3400 to replace.

(63,912 posts)Luckily I inherited a chunk of money from my mother a long while back, which was good because SS and what measly amounts I was able to put away in a savings account would never have been enough to last.
