The prospect of a 100th birthday party brought nothing but dispair.

At 99, she was DONE! She had all of her faculties, was a voracious reader, but she woke up every morning saying "THIS IS JUST RIDICULOUS!". Her friends had all been gone for decades, and she felt her mission was complete.

She left peacefully...content that she did not have to fake the joy of being a centenarian.

i suspect i wont.
but the women in my family seem to have the gift of letting go. very few instances of long stints in nursing homes, or home in bed.
