Great tunes and a flashy piano part.

Leonard Bernstein wrote a wonderful analysis of this composition in, I think, his book, “The Joy of Music.” It’s possible to move sections of Rhapsody around and the piece still works!

I think Bernstein’s point was that Gershwin was learning composition very quickly but was influenced by his experiences with Tin Pan Alley song forms.

Anyway, thanks for posting the link. I’m going to listen to the piece tomorrow.
