that was wet is frozen. Checked the temp and it is minus 4 farenheight. I touched the metal railings and immediately my skin began to freeze. I feel like I should raise a glass to all those who work outside these days. I think it is the coldest Ottawa has been in years.
Note: I converted wrong somehow. It is minus 4 farenheight. Minus 21 Celcius.

(10,072 posts)Makes everything sloppy and dirty. Had to wash my car when I got home. The cold weather at least, keeps me at home and another excuse to stay away from any covidiots.

(7,434 posts)Wiping with towels prevented ice from forming, so you had to be quick.
Why did I do that?

(118,781 posts)and smoke outside like I did, or I'd have to quit tonight. -30 below zero farenheight. -21 Celsius.

(21,611 posts)than I am (Buffalo, NY area). It's only going to -5 F here tonight with a wind chill of -15 F. It's been a really mild winter until now. Temps have stayed between 30 and 40 with a few days in the 50s. Snowfalls have been mild, too, with just a dusting that melted within a few hours.
But now we're getting several inches along with the temp drop.

Feeling your skin start to freeze on outside metal
While you've had way milder I assume you're experienced in dealing with it from further back experiences with all proper clothes etc.
Here in balmy NYC where we're getting our extra freezing 15° for today's high

(34,195 posts)The wind chill got to 50 below zero fahrenheit.
It was my "hippie daze" and I was hitchhiking across Canada. I decided to stay for a few weeks in a hostel until the weather improved.

(28,945 posts)Right now feels like minus 30F. It's been years since it has been this cold during the day.
Even if the house catches fire no way I'm going outside. "Ah that's nice and warm."
Good thoughts and vibes for anyone working outside today. Thank you.
I have a heated mattress pad; so fire it up and spend the day bundled in the comforter.

(23,156 posts)No freezing days this year, 37 is projected for tomorrow and would be lowest of year. Usually by now we should have had a week of freezing days, but haven't had that in 5-7 years? Last year was the hottest ever for winter and we had 3 freezing days by now - this year zero.
I really worry about life here if it doesn't freeze. We need the freezes to knock back the fleas, tics and weeds.
