Lasted about a week.

So yes give it a rest and don't strain it any more than necessary.

I got laryngitis some years ago along with a nasty case of bronchitis - could barely make a sound for over a month, very frustrating, and not much can be done about it because the vocal cords are inflamed and swollen and just have to rest.

When I had it, though I couldn't talk I could sing in the low baritone range, down to F below the base clef staff. Normally I'm a soprano so that was a pretty weird development.
