A knee-slapper laid on me by a classy woman

Years ago, stopped for directions at the most convenient place, a semi-high end, niche furniture store, small store with nice stuff and the couple of sales staff were women in tailored clothes, piercing snootiness.

Got the directions that had a tinge of, "Out" - and while nobody was overtly *rude,* the cool dispatch was noticeable. As I was getting to the door with the lady sort of trailing, I gestured to a coffee table and said, "We guys could make something like that out of some 2 by 4s."

And she said, devastatingly, "Yes, and we women have to pretend to *like* it!1"
