The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsGood lord, discovered another band that speaks to Leo, my cat
The Prodigy.
Thats a different one for his list (Joe Walsh, Eagles songs sung by Joe Walsh, The Stones, Dr. Dre, and another one I cant think of right now...)
I thought it was something in the tone of voice? This one threw me for a loop. He hasnt shown any interest in music in many months.
Was watching some reactors listen to Firestarter and Leo got up and started headbutting the speaker and chirping. Thats his sign of approval and it is given out very sparingly. Hes a weird dude.
Cats, man.
Edit to add the song for those unfamiliar. Its the last thing Id ever expect him to like, lol!

(4,608 posts)When hes in the mood to be receptive to music I like playing different stuff for him to see if anything grabs his attention. Ive never had a cat that has even noticed music (as far as I can tell, other than leaving the room because its too loud) so this has been a fun thing with Leo.
I think it is something about certain voices. Played him a few other Prodigy songs and he seems to be drawn in by that guys vocals (I will google him up, feel bad calling him that guy).
When Leo returns from his trip to the food dish and/or the box, we will start with Whip It and go from there.

Im glad to know there are other music-appreciative cats out there.

(4,608 posts)He didnt give any love to Bocelli or Pavarotti, but Caruso got some face rubs and a single headbutt. No chirping. He did look around the room for the first two, so I will try them again later.
Thanks!

(4,608 posts)Leo and Othello should go out clubbing together, lol!
I wonder what it is about that song?? Does Othello like any other music or songs?
This one got a partial reaction. A couple chirps and he seemed to like the video (normally he doesnt watch the screen, he was definitely watching this one, probably because of all the flashes). No headbutts so not officially approved.
Add: We also tried some Nine Inch Nails and that was a no go.

Juno Reactor
Operatica
Apoptygyma Berzerk
A few metal songs.
And now apparently Prodigy.
I put Prodigy on my alexa and hes grooving away ears swiveling all over the place sitting on the table with alexa.
He will usually sit close to the music and swivel his ears around. Sitting crouched with his paws perfectly together.
Sometimes he swishes his tail to the beat. It always blows my mind when he does it.
Used to have a cat named Bigfoot .My ex husband carl was a musician.
Bigfoot loved it when carl got on the keyboard and would perch right next to it.
I had an idea let Bigfoot play a song. So we started recording.
Bigfoot was fascinated with the keyboard, touching different keys.batting at them or gently touching them. I was watching what he was doing on cakewalk.
Well we took his song put a beat to it, added in sounds and instrument loops and pads and it was suprisingly good.
So my sweet kitty Bigfoot wrote a song. And he liked it,loved it when we played around with it.
