David Crosby Gives 'Scummy People' At Spotify A Blunt Warning About Karma

Rock icon David Crosby said he’s done with Spotify ― permanently ― and not just because of the Joe Rogan podcast that caused a number of high-profile defections from the streaming service.

“They’re not going to suddenly develop a sense of moral responsibility,” he told Stereogum. “They’re scummy people.”

Former bandmate Neil Young publicly quit Spotify last month because of the spread of misinformation on the platform, especially from Rogan, who is being paid a reported $200 million by the company.

David Cosby and Young are no neophytes and hardly naive' to the worst of the music industry. He, Neil Young, and others have my support. Full support.

People in the music business and really all manner of show business will tell you how fucked up it is. I suspect that Spotify was doing a lot of amoral crooked shit before Rogan came along. Spotify probably won't change their ways after this controversy; I expect they'll double down and become some sort of alt-right hub of ignorance. Who knows what other type of podcasts they'll have. They probably have people crunching the numbers as we speak to see how much more they can make by catering to fascists.
