The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsDo people realize how dumb they look holding their phones up
while they attempt to take video of a live event. I just watched thousands of these people who were at the Opening Ceremony spend the experience with their damn iPhones in the air.
First, you look like an idiot.
Second, you miss getting to experience the event cause you're to damn busy staring at your screen while you point your phone in the general direction of the excitement.
Put your phones in your pocket, people. Somewhere a professional is taking high quality video and stills that will shame your grainy, shaky iVideo.
Thank you for tolerating my rant.....typed on my iPhone as I watch tv in bed.

(17,671 posts)shitty pictures of the Sistine Chapel (When they weren't supposed to) rather than just experiencing one of the crowning glories of western art.
And if they needed to "possess it" they could just buy a poster that would be much better than anything they could get with a point and shoot.

(51 posts)I go to the park or a scenic overlook in the summer and everybody is either texting or talking on their cell phones. People read text messages while they jog, bike ride, walk their dogs and speed walk. Sickening!!! Get a life!!!! It's not that serious people!

(21,020 posts)What really makes me groan is when there's a news crew about and people hang around trying to be on camera, holding their cell phones up to their ears.
Are they trying to look cool? "Hey, look at me! I have a cell phone and lots of friends to talk to!"
Or are they calling all their friends..."HEY! Look at ME! I'm on TV, man!"
I seriously want to hit them.
