a friend of mine said she didnt get to sleep untill 2 am last nite because of constant unwanted calls .( she dosent have a cell, but a land line ) note : these are scam calls and not legitimate calls .many are what i call"hit and run" ie: ring and click. the police cant do anything about these calls and these calls fall outside the scope of the national do not call list . the only way she can keep her sanity is by unplugging the phone . ( she gets 60 calls a day or more ) is there anything this person can do for stopping these calls for good ?

What I really hate is when I answer the phone as I always do: "Hello, this is Poindexter" and several seconds later someone says, "May I speak to Poindexter?" I point out they weren't listening when I answered the phone, so they can hang up, call me back, but be on the line when I pick up the phone. I know that it's the automated call system that does that, so as to save time by not having the caller be on the line while someone doesn't answer, but it's still incredibly rude. Sometimes I simply hang up if there's no one on the line when I pick up the phone.

i suggest just turn the ringer off permanently.
and to get a timer on a table lamp for periodic on off.
in general, i recommend an iphone 7 with some call protection.
phone companies dont want us to know what security technology they have. they are too cheap to tell us.
my fathers brother and sister were both in communication security before I was born.
