...As the majority of human mind meanderings is extremely banal.
Those atound us with brilliant minds we would not understand.
The only benefit I can imagine is that reading minds would reveal our lack of uniqueness.
In fact we read minds into others based on their actions and our assumption of their conscious being being there in the model of "ME".
