Orangecrush meets the cartel

Part of my job is driving men to appointments and meetings who have recently been released from prison.

"Jorge" was from the West coast, and had been placed in an Eastern U.S. Federal prison, for good reasons.

Jorge was dark, handsome, quiet, and very intelligent.

He was also a gifted artist, and had made a living as a tattoo artist of the highest skill. To make a living in this field in LA speaks to his ability.

I enjoyed my conversations with Jorge, he had lived as a well to do man, and I loved to hear him talk about vintage cars he collected, as well as art.

One day we were driving to see his p.o., and this song came on. I turned it up, and remarked that I had loved this beautiful tune since my teens.

Apparently, this scored major points with Jorge. He explained that "Suavecito" translated roughly as "smooth feeling".

I told him the opening riff had a groove, that to me, was literally magical.

Jorge ended up going back.

I guess it's like a family, once in, you're in for life.

I don't approve of his actions, but I still remember the man with respect and sympathy.
