we had a pool in the backyard. In the summer, late evening, bats would swoop down into the pool to get a sip of water.

Ack!! My two boys really got a kick out of it. If they were out playing around, the bats never got near them, but would still swoop down and touch the water. Maybe they were playing, too?

It's cool when they come out in the evening, darting everywhere. Several times they have swooped right by me, getting a look at their neighbor. Never got too close though, maybe 2-3 feet away, which is still amazing.

And unlike his barbarous Russian namesake, he contributes to the welfare of humanity by gobbling disease carrying mosquitoes. His namesake is, by contrast, the embodiment of pestilence and disease.

He assists in pollination of flowers and proliferation of fruit trees through seed dispersal, whereas Putrid spreads lies and hate and is responsible for the growth of human rights crushing dictatorships. So he’s superior in those metrics as well, AND still far more handsome.

The bats come to feed. In the morning moth wings litter the ground.

Were do you live that you have figs in March?

A wonderful if the other Vlad would get the brains to go into a self imposed exile, and hang upside down cloaked in the darkness that is him and implode his own being into nothing.

That is an incredible creature, hanging out in your area. Tfg's Vlad, probably doesn't have the intelligence or insight to just go away.

Years ago I worked at a tourist information stop in the Black Hills, which in the late 1800s had been a little railroad depot. Bats nested in the attic, and one day, the ceiling collapsed from the weight of all the bat guano. Yikes.

I still like bats.
