Microsoft Edge is bogarting my internet access.

There was an update on the 7th. Now, all day, I have been struggling to stay on the net. I keep getting kicked off. I have looked for options to remove Microsoft Edge from startup, buy I'm having no luck.

Any suggestions? Or does anyone know if this is something everyone is experiencing?

I notice since upgrading (their word, not mine) that whenever I open a new tab in a browser, task manager shows a new instance, but when I close the tab, it doesn't appear to close out in task manager. At some point my system is so slow I have to close down my browser. I've found this issue with a few browsers.

This was an awful upgrade. I see I have a Windows update notice. I wonder if they've fixed any of the issues I'm having.

I chose Chrome as my OS on a PC windows 10 it pushed edge but I just used it to log on to the net & download Google Chrome and it had all my settings etc. saved.

There are others and I'm sure you'll get advice better than mine.

But-Chrome is easy.

I find it helpful to send date using an abacus, it is much faster.

and NEVER open Edge. I have a year old laptop and Windows 10, and I refuse to use Edge or Bing for that matter. Can you just not open it? Open Chrome and set it as your default.

I have successfully removed Bing from startup. But this Microsoft Edge thing is a new thing.

You should be able to toggle it off. But I think California Peggy had the best advice, seek help in the computer forum.

Otherwise, I've had good luck googling questions such as this:

How do I change my default browser from Microsoft Edge to Chrome?
At the bottom, under "Web browser," click your current browser (typically Microsoft Edge).
...
On your computer, click the Start menu .
Click Control Panel.
Click Programs Default Programs. Set your default programs.
On the left, select Google Chrome.
Click Set this program as default.
Click OK.

Or go here

Good luck!

You need to turn off the S mode in Windows 10. It's easy.

Windows 10 in S mode is a version of Windows 10 that's streamlined for security and performance, while providing a familiar Windows experience. To increase security, it allows only apps from the Microsoft Store, and requires Microsoft Edge for safe browsing.

You've probably got it all figured out by now, but I had to put this 2 cents in. Easy instructions to turn it off on google.
