I'm finding social media pretty much useless or at least toxic

I don't use FB for widely known reasons. But I am trying to cultivate Linked In for obvious reasons. I get these teaser emails that say "add so-and-so to your network" I recognize the name from career networking groups I belong to, so I click on "Yes, connect". Then I get a message, "your invitation cannot be sent". WTF? LI made it sound like the other wanted to connect to me, and now you're blocking me from sending an invite that LI instigated? I do mean WTF?

Then there are LI career ads, employment ads. All the feeds I get are filtered by my LI profile. I can't figure out how to disable the filter so I can see the rest of the ads. I'm finding Indeed and general help wanted sites far more useful.

gmail is not much better. I get the same feed from LI every day. Every day. Each and every day.

try posting something pro-union! It will disappear in short order.

No I don't rabble rouse on LI, I'm new to it. Joined because of a job search group. Struggling with it as I say.

I don't use Twatter and never have. Things would be much better if Twitter was what Opus thought it was, a chat room for birds.
