2. The theremin!

It's a most curious and unique instrument.

Years ago, I had the occasion to meet Clara Rockmore who was a disciple and friend of Leon Theremin. I think he even once proposed to her but they didn't marry. Anyhow, Clara invited me to her NYC apartment for an afternoon chat over tea and she was gracious and a great story-teller. She had a lovely apartment on the West Side of Manhattan and she enjoyed talking about her experiences.

She had her custom Theremin that was built for her and she played it for me for about 20 minutes. It was enchanting!

She told me that a documentary about her was being filmed. I think this is the result:
