Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsIt's time for Tech Talk today, March 23, 2022. It's been awhile but I do have some new
information so bear with me as I recap:
In January of 2020 Microsoft informed us that they were halting support for WIN 7. That
didn't bother me since I consider WIN 7 to be the best thing they've ever done. But here
in March of 2022 we're still getting regular updates for WIN 7.
I decided to see how Microsoft is handling support for WIN 8.1 and found out that they've halted Primary Customer Support for it. They are providing Secondary Support
until 2023. At least that's what I read. We'll see how that goes.
I'm still using WIN 10 also and will as long as we have our two WIN 10 machines in the
house.
I have observed that some problems with websites that I encounter using WIN 10 and
the Firefox Browser can be corrected by re-booting the browser and sometimes I just have to shut everything down and re-start WIN 10. Whatever works is good.

(3,587 posts)My computer won't support Win11, so I won't be getting auto updated. I'm kind of glad for that. I prefer to upgrade to a newer operating system after there has been enough time for fixes for all the bugs to come out. That could take a while....

(11,394 posts)run my XP based AutoCAD. works great. This is a dedicated work machine that doesn't see the internet very much. And every once and awhile I get an win 7 update.
Most of the time I'm using a program called Bluebeam to review and markup PDF steel drawings. Win 7 is all I need on that machine for now.

(14,118 posts)running XP that still works but I've put in mothballs for now. And I have a laptop I keep
as a spare that runs Vista but is still usable.
