... Jerry Brown so much, and he shocked me with his reply. (He was a right-winger, so I assumed he'd complain about Brown's liberal ideas.)

The old guy replied, "He... he used to date Linda Ronstadt!"

... was far more intriguing to me than the 1964 song by Gloria Jones:

EDIT: I'm not sure what my favorite cover-song might be, though. Perhaps my LEAST favorite is "Knockin' On Heaven's Door" by Guns N' Roses. I always mock their version when the singer goes "hay hay hay hay hay yeah", or whatever, after singling the title lyrics. Fortunately for everyone, I can't strangle him over the airwaves.

... I could sound just like Bob Dylan years ago while doing Karaoke is my bar-hopping 20's. I'd get standing ovations for singing just like him. (I'd make my voice much more "nasally" while imitating him, if that's the right term. Or perhaps the opposite, since I'd sing like I had sinus congestion.)

Joe Cocker for his killer cover of that song also.

It's not easy to cover a Beatle song and make it your own.

When my niece graduated from high school about 20 years ago the class chose that as their theme song. The lyrics were printed in the ceremony program, and someone attributed Joe Cocker as the author.
