Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsJulia Ioffe has become the GO TO Russian commentator on the war.
Her sober outlook for Ukraine and Russia has been getting a great deal of screen time across many networks.
Her Friday interview with Bill Mahr started with the "Puck" reporter asking if Mahr would like to hear a popular Russian joke.
"Sure", he said.
"What do you call something too big for an ass and doesn't buzz?"
Answer:
"A Russian ass buzzer".
She then went on to describe the sorry outlook for the two countries.

why don't I get it?

(21,099 posts)3. The joke was making fun of Russian products implying they basically fail in design and function.
Hence, "the Russian ass buzzer" is too big for it's designed purpose, and doesn't work anyways.

(54,770 posts)5. Plus, she -- who grew up in Russia-- delivered the joke perfectly.
She had good insight on both countries and war.
