I hate that. I have no understanding why anyone would kill and remove good trees. Around here, there are so many places with no trees, and it drives me up the wall when some jackass does that instead of just buying a place that is already treeless.

It's common for Rich SOB farmers to buy large tracts of land with timbered areas and cut all the hardwood trees; which are probably destined for sale to overseas buyers. Sad to see hundreds of walnut, oak, hickory etc., logs in piles beside the road waiting for trucks to haul them away.

Oh, this takes me back! I remember when Mr. T bought the Armour Mansion in Lake Forest, Illinois and cut down over 100 big old trees -- the outrage across all of Chicagoland was amazing.

I think it is a pissing contest. Somebody buys a lot and they must, in any way possible, put their mark on it. The trees are the first to die for the ego of the new owner.

I have said it once, and I'll say it till I die. If you want property with no trees, buy a lot that is already denuded.

My neighbors are busy clear-cutting my street. My plan is to contribute to a tree-planting organization, and plant trees and shrubs on my 1/3 acre whereever I can. I can't save the world, but I can piss off the tree-killers by making them look at my overgrown yard.

Hurricane winds could blow them down on the roof if they're close enough.

Many localities where migratory birds nest do not allow large trees to be cut down unless they verify there are no nests in the trees.
