Turns out Gilmour's daughter-in-law is Ukrainian.
Okay some might say it's not the Floyd w/o Waters, and I'll entertain that reasoning, but Gilmour owns the name basically, so ... here's some NEW PINK FLOYD.
Article about the song, which came out today:

Again, this is Pink Floyd, even without Roger Waters. Who is not in agreement with the others on the subject of Ukraine.
Ukraine is grateful for what Pink Floyd has done.

(48,978 posts)terrible things to say about Western leaders. See the last part of my OP in GD that I linked to above.

(11,023 posts)His progressivism can be pretty crabby and iconoclastic. Just always seems unhappy.
Yet I still love his music.

(48,978 posts)I posted a reply in that GD thread, responding to a reply from HL there, linking to Waters' tweets/videos showing his correspondence with a Ukrainian student. His replies to her made me cringe.
I'm bringing up what he's said about the invasion because it's clear from the Guardian article that he and Gilmour see things very differently. If we were just discussing his music, it wouldn't be relevant. Thinking he can be pretty stupid about politics doesn't change my appreciation of his best music.

(11,023 posts)And thanks for the more detailed info. Naive is a good description of his views- or at least how he expresses them.
But then he did write a song about how Live-Aid inspired the end of nuclear war.

(33,643 posts)I'm not convinced Waters is in actual disagreement on the subject of Russia attacking Ukraine (now that it's happened) but he was clearly off-base in thinking it wasn't going to happen ... before it did.
Anyways
