I loved this crap when I was a kid, and I'm trying to find out if they still make them because I want some. Right now.
The name of this junk food is "Creamies".
When I Google Image Creamies, I get all sorts of different sweet treats, but I cannot find what I am looking for. If I knew the name of the company that made them, it would help a lot. All my brain can conjure up is "Hostess", but I'm pretty sure that is wrong.
The product is as follows:
Clear plastic package with blue and white writing on it (back in the 60's, anyway).
Inside this package were these two cake like junk food desserts.
Each one was maybe 5 inches long, maybe 1.5 inches wide. maybe an inch high each, but that consisted 2 two separate layers of a chocolate cake like material, with each layer being about 0.5 inches thick. Sandwiched inside each layer was a thin layer of a whipped cream. They were dark brown. Each long end was rounded off into a semi-circle.
So, picture that you have a hot dog roll laying on your counter and you standing over it, looking down at the top of it. The ends of this product are rounded off like a hot dog roll. Instead 2 layers of bread, imagine 2 layers of a dark brown chocolate cake type of thing. Instead of a hot dog between the two layers, there is a thin layer of whipped cream. Now, shrink down the size of the hot dog roll to the dimensions above, and that is what a Creamie is. Two to a package.
The same company also made these chocolate and peanut butter cup type of things. 3 to a package. 3 brown chocolate circles, maybe 2 inches in diameter and 0.5 inches high. Same color packaging as above. Almost the same size as a Reese's cup, but no little ridges at the top. Also unlike a Reese's cup, the inside was not entirely filled with peanut butter. Under the chocolate was only a thin layer of peanut butter, but the bulk of the inside had some kind of white fluffy stuff.
If anyone recognizes this product, please post the company name here.
If it helps me find where to get these things 50 some years later, I'll go get them. I need some right now.
If I find them, I'll give you a cookie.
Maybe.
If you finish your peas first.
On second thought, no cookie.
You ate almost an entire package of cookies yesterday, so you need a break from the sweets.
Thank you.

(17,441 posts)The chocolate part of the Creamies were even smoother than devil dogs, and the whipped cream was a thinner layer.
Thanks!

(4,608 posts)My Mom makes homemade Gobs (Grandmas recipe) and brings them in to my work for my coworkers birthdays. They are like biting into heaven.
My Mom is well loved by my coworkers, lol!

(17,441 posts)The ends of a Creamie were rounded off more. Creamies have a thinner layer of whipped cream, and are longer, but narrower.
Also, the cake part is very smooth on a Creamie.
Pretty close though! Thank you, Ocelot II!

(34,456 posts)Nearby that sold their stuff that was not fresh enough for the regular stores. Mom would take us there occasionally to get bread and treats. I think Snoballs were my favorite but Suzy Qs were great too.

(17,441 posts)They were an oblong shape back then, so they've changed the shape, but I bet they are the same product.

Looks like the reason I could not find it is that it begins with a K, not a C.

(3,327 posts)The hot dog bun shaped chocolate cake filled with whipped cream, as you said. I think they had thin, dark chocolate frosting on the top and sides, with a squiggly line of vanilla frosting on top of the chocolate frosting, down the length of the confection.

(86,634 posts)Those were made by Drake's Cakes and were called Devil Dogs. I used to save my coins and ride my bike about a mile to the corner market for one. They cost a nickel.

Apparently they also had banana flavor as well.
Im on my phone and couldnt get a link to come up for the picture.
Not sure you can still get Kreamies, but you can definitely get the peanut butter Kandy Kakes. TastyKake is mainly an east coast brand out of Philadelphia. I do know that if you have a Capriottis sub shop near you, they have Tastykakes shipped in.

(17,199 posts)... is now called "Kandy Kakes," but for years in the 70's they were called "Tandy Takes," which I've always wondered about... I have this image of them ordering a million or so packages from a printer, and finding that the name was misprinted and saying "Oh, well, what the hell... go with it!"
