To all the well-wishers from 7wo 7rees' thread

Last edited Sat Apr 9, 2022, 08:12 AM - Edit history (1)

It took us about 27 hours on the road to get here, but we made it! We‘re between Waikoloa and Kawa‘i Hae on the Big Island! Our granddaughters, ages almost four and almost two, made the trip like troopers. A few tears from fatigue, but mostly in good spirits.

Left our daughter‘s house at 8:00 in the morning German time, 3 hours at the airport due to a delayed departure, then 11 hours to San Francisco, a sympathetic CBP guy, then customs, rechecking, another round of security, and another 5 1/2 hour flight to Kona, then another hour to get our cars, and drive the 45 minutes up the Kohala coast. My daughter‘s former roomie from when she went to school here, already texted her from South Kona: Welcome home!

Hope you'll be there long enough to recover from the jet lag.

“Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness,
and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts.
Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by
vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime.”

(May or may not help the hours go by)

Glad you made it safely to your destination.
