I watched "Contagion" on Netflix last night

It's over a decade old but some parts were amazingly prescient when you look back at the last two years.

Recommended.

1. I read "Hot Zone" at the beginning of The Pandemic and everything closed down.

Same effect on me.

She said it scared her. I said, "Watch what happens in the next two years and you'll be really scared." Sadly, with Trump in the WH, I was right.

7. i read The Hot Zone when I was on a road trip in Europe years ago..

..and i literally missed a lot of the trip because that book had me riveted. I am NOT a reader but that book..i could not put it down. Thank GOD trump wasnt in charge of anything when it came to the US.

2. That was a really good movie, a lot of it

predicted the pandemic and response.

4. Watched it last week

And I was amazed how it predicted our experiences today. Too bad Rtump was in power when Covid started. Looks like medical science already knew what to expect, but he ignored it all.

5. He went far beyond ignoring it...

He actively promoted the spread hoping it would kill enough of his opponents that hos stealing the election might be easier than he expected. It wasn't just him, it was every one of his disciples jockeying for position in his favor who plotted along with him. They intended for hundreds of thousands to die.

They dismantled the response team, confiscated and sold PPE and ventilators, tried to keep people from getting tested, promoted opposition to safety protocols... need I go on?

I'll have to read that book, sounds interesting and creepy all at once.

6. It even predicted the Ivermectin quackery

Not exactly the same substance, obviously, but the phenomenon itself was spot-on, right down to the fringe social media guy pushing on his millions of followers.
