Update on me and my mom

Hi everyone,

Well my mom had a large electric bill due and PECO was about to shut the electricity off this month. But our doctor (my mom and I have the same one) signed a medical certificate that postpones the shutoff for a month. My mom has very high blood pressure during stress, an anxiety condition, and depression. Plus she’s almost 73 and a widow. Our doctor can do this two more times. Hopefully they will offer a payment arrangement before mom has to pay. Have had other high bills trying to improve stuff to sell the house in May. We are selling as is, but the house needed a few things done. Hopefully we find a place to go to and make some money on the sale. My mom and I are starting out with a well reduced bank account next month, but I am looking into another loan and possible services. I am not doing a GoFundMe right now because having done 2 on DU before, we are really trying to solve things on our own. DU would probably be fine again and we have plenty of proof of the situation if needed, but it’s not my first choice to try.

Like everyone else, worried about politics. It is so important that the President has a Democratic. Congress again. It is the only way we make more progress. But since this is The Lounge, will make this part brief.

My mom and I both have our birthdays on May 12, so hopefully things are better by then. Any advice you have would be appreciated. Everyone take care.

child abuse. Looks like it is still a viable resource at least in Texas. We also worked with multiple agencies to help people with problems like utility payments, etc. and as I remember we had large amounts of connections. I do not know where you are or even if this group still has the same goals but look it up and even if you have no church affiliation, many churches will work with you if contacted. I know the ELCA church I attend sometimes in Austin does.

To a GoFundMe based only on the emergency electric bill? It will still come due after the medical certifications are over and I do not know if there is help or will be a payment arrangement offered.

Some, have to live on the edge. I'm going for ssdi now, getting LTD I'll have to pay back, and am worried about my future.

I feel for you both

DU has helped before and I really want to work this out on my own. In America, options seem few.

I am really hoping you get ssdi. Hope everything works out for you.

I am still waiting a bit to see if things change. This would be an emergency so hope everyone understands.

It won’t have a huge goal (likely $1,000 or less) but it would cover the emergency expense. Still have multiple long term ideas to try to cover even emergencies.

Sorry you have to sell the house, but I hope it sells for a good price.

Happy early Birthday to you both.

If I could, I would donate to a lot of GoFundMes.

Thinking more that I should put the bill amount as goal, but say whatever DU can do would be greatly appreciated.
