First trip to Dollar Tree since price hike

I used to go about once a month and spend $20-50.00. I haven't been in there since Dec 2021, right before they raised their prices 25%. Dollar Tree ceo said they were raising the prices to offer customers more products and bigger sizes, or at least not shrink the sizes any more than they have. ceo also said the move would take their profit from 30% back to 35%.

I went in today. There were at least 3 things I wanted, that they still haven't stocked. I didn't see any improvement on product sizes, and I think the dish soap was even smaller than the last I bought. They are selling individual drinks like Gatorade and Sparkling Ice for $1.25. I got Sparkling Ice at Kroger's last week for .89 cents a bottle, same size.

Pretty sure I won't be going back to Dollar Tree for another 4-6 months, and when I do, I will spend about 60% less than I used to. Changing my spending habits will increase my profit margin, wonder how it'll affect theirs?

What you said in your post. The CEO needs to hear it.

I have not bought a bottle of pop since they raised the price. There are too many alternatives. I drink a lot more water, feel better 2 stores have the cracked wheat bread I like. One raised their price 60 cents, the other 20 cents. The same all over. I used to buy bottles of water. Now I buy gallon jugs.

I saw a headline either on DU or fb listing the increased, or maybe bloated is a better word, profits of oil companies. Today I heard a headline on cbs news radio that inflation was as hard on companies as consumers. The irony is hard to ignore.

inflation was as hard on companies as consumers.

That's measured by the producer price index. It examines the prices of material that companies buy to process and send out the door as consumer goods.

Wed Apr 13, 2022: Producer prices rose 11.2% from a year ago in March, the biggest gain on record

I was at the Aldi a few days ago. Prices on things there are way up too.

It certainly hasn't stopped them from still earning record profits.
