(25,941 posts)Can that be my favorite too? I have such a hard time choosing favorites. I do like romaine lettuce and assorted spring greens, feta cheese (which was a component of the spinach omelette I had this morning), hard boiled eggs, real bacon bits, tomatoes, sunflower seeds, well seasoned croutons, anchovies
let me know if I forgot anything.
While on the subject
whats the deal with salad bars that mix raisins in with the sunflower seeds? Infuriating!
On edit: add green onions, radishes, bean sprouts and alfalfa sprouts.

(17,444 posts)Chicken breast meat that is marinated for awhile (everyone has their own "secret recipe" for the marinade), then cut into bite size pieces, placed on a skewer, and cooked over a flame.
Spiedies are also made with pork or lamb, and are usually served on a roll, but you can also use them in salads.
So I like simple chicken Spiedie salads, with either Italian or Blue Cheese dressing. usually containing:
Chicken Spiedies
Lettuce
Tomatoes
Onions
Croutons
Bite sized chucks of cheddar cheese

(3,264 posts)Strawberries, blueberries, plums, croutons,
Bacon bits and either homemade balsamic dressing or Briannas French style vinaigrette. Perfection.

(5,556 posts)black olives, bacon bits, a scoop of egg salad, and a scoop of tuna salad. Make it at home. But I do love a Cobb also.

Which reminds me that I haven't had lunch yet...

(22,264 posts)in a heartbeat. In fact, that was the first thing that popped into my mind, even before the photo came up. I love a good Cobb salad.
I find it difficult to choose a favorite because there are so many salads that I love.
Pretty much any assortment of greens and chopped raw veggies will do. Top that with some grilled chicken breast.... divine.

(118,683 posts)in a gourmet blue cheese dressing (bought in the fridge section of the produce section). Add some lemon juice. Mix so that there is excess dressing. Then I put it over baby spinach. I was using chopped avocado too but they are not necessary. I call it green on green salad.

(63,221 posts)Another favorite of mine is a Nicoise Salad (also w/ no egg)
Mixed greens, french green beans, baby new potatoes or fingerlings, tomatoes, seared tuna (do not like canned tuna, but you can use it if you like it), nicoise olives and a dijon vinaigrette. I also like cucumbers in mine, but they are not in a traditional Salade Nicoise. But in my opinion, recipies are just guidelines.

(14,906 posts)With or w/o Romaine lettuce
Tomatoes, red onions, cucumbers, feta cheese drizzled with good olive oil, and vineger. Can shake some dried oregano, and garlic powder in, too.
I will sometimes add walnuts pieces, too.
(I love a a good olive oil, but no olives - too bitter!)
