I heard that reported a couple of times when the the 2nd boosters was first being encouraged. Haven't heard anything since, except that it's safe to get a different booster.

The FDA has authorized three vaccine boosters — Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna and Janssen/Johnson & Johnson — and determined that it is safe for individuals to receive a COVID-19 vaccine booster or additional dose that is a different brand than the initial dose or doses.

The FDA has authorized the use of mix-and-match booster doses for currently available COVID-19 vaccines based on the results of a NIAID-supported study.

The last credible thing I read before I received my second booster suggested to stick with the same "flavor", so to speak.

So that's what I did...4 Pfizers.

No problems but if I was a betting woman, I’d say a booster once a year like our flu shots are in the future. I’m good with that as time and the science will give us better data.

that there really does not seem to be a better solution.

I certainly do not have any objection at all to an annual COVID booster.

After all, I have been getting an annual flu shot for years

Protection from both Pfizer and Moderna is relatively equivalent so whichever one folks took before with no bad side effects, they should just take again but Johnson/Johnson's lowered effectiveness plus serious and even some fatal blood clotting side effects indicated safest bet for Johnson folks is either Pfizer or Moderna for boosters.

But mixing Pfizer and Moderna has only a possible speculative benefit but not definitely recommended.

My 2 and first booster were Moderna ... and before the first booster Walgreens finally got around to publishing the entire ingredients lists, and Pfizer has an ingredient I'm allergic to, and Moderna doesn't.

Can't remember now what it is. But I definitely remember noticing it.

Was all Pfizer before. They only had Moderna/interchangeable. So their rationale wasn't addressing the OP's question, only about availability, all other things being equal.

We discovered the grocery store had boosters and so we decided to get the second booster right then and there, before I had time to investigate the deal with getting a different kind. I decided there may be some sense to it (they are the teensiest bit different and so you get some little molecule you didn't have before?? ) and that I didn't see how it could do harm, so we went with Pfizer after being straight Moderna before.

The one dose vaccine. Moderna or Pfizer is recommended for them. Also, I received my 4th dose of Pfizer on Monday. Same as before, my only side effects were a tiredness and a sore arm for just a day. I'm gonna stay with what works for me.
