We used to have a Bearded Dragon, and the darn thing was downright affectionate. It cuddled in your hand. I don't know what makes these lizards so gentle and sweet, but you can't go wrong with picking one over, say, an Iguana. They come in different varieties, too. Just wash your hands after handling.

This is an interesting video, and fun to watch. This is what dogs like to do; I had no idea that a lizard would play like that.
