lost pets I recently read about a bulldog that had been stolen five years ago.

STOLEN.

Nevertheless the hooman never gave up hope and constantly searched for the dog, even contacting the animals shelters on a weekly basis. For five years.
During that time, new pets had been added to the household and the couple had children.

Now if a dog was stolen, I would pretty much assume it was in someone's house, but I do think it's reasonable that if you and that animal had a strong bond, it might escape and be able to find you with those special animal sensing esp capabilities.

As it turns out, the hooman had made his weekly call to the animal shelters and a bulldog fitting his dog's description had just been found as a stray. He went immediately to the shelter and it was the dog he'd been searching for for five years! The shelter employees said the dog immediately recognized him and went the two were crazy with joy.

Five years....and finally success.

the night our house burned down.

A neighbor took us in. I went down to the house at different times of day to call the kitties for several days. Simba showed up first, then Mouse the next day .
