CoViD test kits? Is thereva special disposal protocol? Do they actiually work after expiration, like so many meds, etc.?

(21,597 posts)You could donate extra kits to local groups like homeless or womens emergency shelters or to summer school or day camp programs in your area.

(27,215 posts)I don't think there is anything harmful in it, as used ones go in the trash.
My father in law said that expiration dates on meds are largely bogus, and only there for litigation purposes (with some exceptions).
Even perishable meds have expiration dates that are set far before they would go bad. It's assumed that large numbers of people don't even check expiration dates, so most meds are made to be stable for a long time.
Having said that, since liquids are involved, the test might become less reliable over time, but shouldn't harm you in any way.
On edit: forgot to mention my father in law was a pharmacist.
