The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsI'll be 64 this year. It's Sunday 3:00 AM. I'm wearing purple boxer briefs...
black slippers, that's it. Blasting this song, playing air guitar and making guitar faces.
Why have you done this to me?

What's the song, Mr. Bill?
Mr.Bill
(24,312 posts)The song is When I'm 64 from the Sgt. Pepper album. When I first heard that song at the height of the Vietnam war, the draft looming and the general condition of the world I remember thinking my chance of reaching that age were about one in a thousand. Coming up now on '69 in two months.

(17,454 posts)I tried to teach myself guitar, but gave up too soon.
However, I'm a half-decent drummer. Took lessons when I was a kid. But I had no sense of rhythm back then. I couldn't dance either.
A few years ago, something changed in me to where I'm a decent dancer now, and can keep a good beat. No idea what changed to cause this, but I was at a wedding a few years ago, completely sober, and danced the night away like a madman.
After that, I noticed when I slap my hands on my thighs, or drum on an upside down 5 gallon bucket, I can keep a perfect beat with a song with both my hands and feet.
Damn, life is strange sometimes.
