"One of us just spent $600 to find out the other one has gas" (& other pet to vet short stories)

found a twitter thread with some cute tweets:

Lmao we just paid 800 dollars to be told that our dog is 8 and a half

one of our hens was laying around and acting severely ill. paid around 300$ for our hen mabel to take a shit in the xray machine. she was totally fine after that

Paid $180 once to be told my dog was holding in a fart.

One of us just spent $600 to find out the other one has gas.

Last year I paid $400 to be told my cat didn’t like the taste of a bug.

$500 to be told that the reason my cat was losing weight wasn’t bc of some horrible illness but bc we had recently moved from a 750sqft apartment to a 2,000sqft+ house and she was just more active

My SIL went got a dachshund and couldn’t figure out why it was so lethargic.
The vet asked “are you going for walks?” “Yep”
“How far?”
“Same as always”
“You used to have a husky! This dogs legs are 4 inches long!”

I paid $150 on top of a $200 check up because my cat got nauseous from the check up 🤦‍♀️

Caspers chin went from snow white to dirty, and was convinced based on the internet that it was cat acne. My dad kindly drove me and a wailing boy to the vet, had a minor car crash that caused damage, only to find out that Casper was fine he just was gross when he ate.

$200 to be told that my dog didn’t like the cold snow touching her paws and was limping around because of it

$200 vet visit because I was afraid he had a UTI, turns out he pees in the house sometimes just to spite me

I paid like $1200 for various tests for my late bulldog's hearing because we were convinced she had gone deaf. She could hear just fine she just didn't give a damn about what we had to say.

I paid almost $600 dollars because my cat had a sneeze

i've been going thru the thread trying to find the tweet my daughter told me about (can't find it); someone took their dog to the vet after spending the day at the beach--they thought the dog's tail was broken. turned out the dog's tail was just sore from wagging all day--it was happy tail syndrome

anyway, here is the first tweet on this thread since i did not include every tweet posted

I took a cat to the vet for a swelling on her neck. Turned out she had salivary glands. Karadeniz May 2022 #1

Only to make a miraculous recovery after we dropped a couple hundred for vet visits and testing. Happened 3 or 4 times over 12 years. We figured she just needed us to prove we loved her by spending money on her.

In retrospect, I think it may have been Valley Fever, but we were never able to get a test with high enough numbers for it to confirm.
