I have a PayPal account, but I'm disgusted with how long it takes to transfer money from my bank to the PayPal account. PayPal debits my bank account as soon as I set up a transfer, but it takes days for my PayPal account to be credited. This last transfer took 7 days. I like having an account I can draw from, but I suspect that PayPal is making money off the transfer before it gets into my account. If there were some other reason it is deducted from the bank, but is delayed showing in PayPal, I'd probably settle down. We've had PayPal almost since it started up, never overdrawn, never broke any rules. Same with our bank.
Is Venmo better about this kind of thing? Is it as popular as PayPal (do as many people use it?) Any advice is welcome Thank you.

(43,182 posts)I have no experience with it. I use PayPal, it takes about 2 days to transfer, though I haven't had a transfer in a year. I usually pay bills direct, I've never used BillPay.

(16,975 posts)it is just when I transfer from my bank account to PayPal account, to increase the PayPal balance. I have a few things like Chewy that I use PayPal for, and sometimes for gifts. I don't use any of PayPal's programs.
Thanks for your comments.

(1,848 posts)Fyi I basically never explicitly move money into my Paypal account. I let PayPal pull
the funds for a transaction out of my bank and the recipient gets the funds
immediately. Paypal knows of my checking account and has a credit card on file
for "backup" in case there's a problem.
I actually have a couple of dollars in my paypal account now ... I forget why I did that
There are many (many) other options for moving cash, some work only in the US, others
internationally. Some are quick, some are slower. Fees and pros/cons are all over the place.
And then of course there's crypto and moving funds with the blockchain

(7,522 posts)But I've used it several times as a way to pay a regular account and it works fine. Money transfer is immediate.
