I received an omen this morning.
I have a skill.
I've become really good at timing things. I did not have this skill when I was younger. It is something that I somehow have perfected over the last 20 years or so.
For example, let's say I have an appointment at 900AM, and I decide I want to arrive at the appointment exactly at 853 AM. I am able to anticipate traffic, and/or any potential problems that may arise on my drive to the appointment. I intuitively know the exact time to leave the house in order to arrive at 853 AM. And it works without fail every time, within 30 to 45 seconds. Always.
That being said...
I have a "home office chore" that I perform every morning before I start doing anything else. It usually takes around an hour to do (varies depending on circumstances), and I time it in order to be done by 927AM. This is because I enjoy watching the one-minute stock candles (the stock chart) for this one particular stock that I follow when the market opens at 930 AM. It takes around 2 minutes for my trading platform to boot up on my computer, so by 929, I'm sipping my coffee and waiting a minute or less for the stock to start trading.
This morning, as usual I was right on time with the completion of my office work, and my stomach started to rumble, most likely because of this enormous salad that I ate last night. "No problem" I told myself. I was a bit ahead of schedule.
So I went into the bathroom and quickly completed my business. I flushed the toilet and began washing my hands when I noticed the toilet water rising and rising. I turned off the water supply to the toilet, which I obviously clogged. The water in the bowl was crystal clear, so the clog was way down in the line somewhere. I got the plunger, and plunged for a good 20 minutes before it cleared. So that means that I missed the opening bell, and was unable to watch the stock trade at the opening.
It's worth noting that I do not believe that I have ever clogged a toilet once in my entire life. Unlike somehow else in this household who I will not mention.
My one pleasure in life was denied to me today.
I took it as an omen, that this is the way my life is going to be from now on, every day, until I die.
My perfect timing streak is over, and some bullshit like this is going to happen to me every day.
You have no idea of the hardships that I face.
No idea.
And before anyone yells at me about first world problems or whatever, remember that this is the goddamn lounge FFS.
