Ever since I got my hair streaked blue, my kitty can't leave it alone!

At first, I thought it was the smell of the color, except I've washed it so many times by now and she still wants to mouth and bite it. She also likes to rub her face in my hair. I don't mind, it's just odd. It's like I came home with kitty nip hair.

When exploring what colors cats see best, it is believed that cats are able to easily detect blue hues. More specifically, blue-violet hues are easiest for our felines to detect, but the yellow-green wavelengths of light are also easy to see. Unfortunately, cats are not able to see red-orange hues.Jul 6, 2021

Can Cats See Color?

Our feline friends can see some colors, but are there particular colors that can cats see best? Cats' two color-detecting cones let them see blue-violet and yellow-green wavelengths of light, but not red-orange. So, similar to dogs, cats mainly see things in shades of yellow, gray, and blue tinges, but some researchers think that cats may also notice some shades of green.

So that laser pointer you relentlessly tease your cat with (pick another toy, please!) is not a great option for playtime. Your cat likely does not pick up on how bright that red is, and instead sees just the fast, bouncing movement of the light. Not to mention it's frustrating for them to endlessly chase an uncatchable target.

but reds and pinks would be confusing. So, your blue streaks would have been VERY obvious to the kitty and out-of-the-ordinary to them.

He would lie on top of my head with his claws in my scalp all the time if I let him. He likes to run his claws through my hair was well. I have a bad neck and having a 11 lb. cat lie on my head is very uncomfortable, so I have to sleep with my door closed. If I go to sleep on the couch, I ALWAYS wake up with him at least lying by my hair if not on top of my head. He doesn't do this with anyone else, I really think he likes the red.
