Not sure if we picked it up in Chicago or Memphis or the flight between them, but I do regret that the masks came off in airplanes.
We're lucky so far: mild symptoms and we're holed up in a tiny motel in the middle of nowhere in Mississippi and are just going to sleep and watch Food Network for 5 days. I've changed my Out of Office to "Stop Emailing Me I Have the Rona". How's everybody else doing?

(33,643 posts)With 4x vax under my belt (5x for her, plus having had it in March 2020) it's been cake.
Some Delsym, some Sudafed, some Naproxen ... barely a problem for either of us.
I'm 55yo, she's 46 just for reference.
Good luck to both you

(24,654 posts)It was probably inevitable though. After two years of being super duper careful, Pandemic Fatigue crept up on us and we let our guard down for the last month.
He has mild symptoms, I have what I would classify as somewhere between mild and moderate. Let's call it annoying. I'm actually trying to work, but the brain fuzziness is real!
Get well soon!!!

(102,379 posts)Despite my own work intense exposure over the past two years, never have I had it either. Or if I did, it was asymptomatic.
But, I do NOT take it for granted. I take every possible precaution.

(11,927 posts)I mean, I've been masked anytime I've been out, but not in my own house. Can't really confine them to their room for awhile with their work. I've managed to dodge it for 2 years and one of those included a year of cancer treatment and 2 hospital stays. Pretty sure I'll feel the same way about it in August when they're set to go on a cruise. They'll return a few days before college starts (unmasked, on campus in person classes). Maybe the cruise will be postponed. It was a few years ago due to a hurricane destroying the port in the Bahamas, than due to COVID.

(9,894 posts)a week ago on a flight back from Norway. Person I got it from was masked except for when eating and we both tested negative the night before we left. Both vaxed x 4. I avoided it for 2 1/2 years while working at work every day. It's inevitable if you aren't going to stay at home for the next lifetime. It's been relatively mild, although the feeling of general malaise is ongoing.

(10,054 posts)My 94 year old dad just got it. Even with all four shots (vaxxed & boosted) and still mask wearing. Good news though: his doc immediately put him on Paxlovid and he never got major symptoms, not even a fever. Sniffly and tired, like a mild cold but that's it. Thank you science!!!

(7,860 posts)practically slept in what I call my kevlar mask...I left the house only when I needed groceries..as soon as the vaccine was available and I could schedule an appointment I did...and a month later I had the second vaccine and in 8/2021 the booster...but I kept my mask on and followed covid protocols...and yet on 1/1/2022 I had symptoms and tested positive for omicron... 6 days not so mild symptoms but I recovered and 6 weeks later I was reinfected.. 5 days not so mild symptoms...4/2022 booster #2...keep your mask on and keep your distance..
I know how I contracted it the first time...Whole Foods...checker was masked but coughing..and every time she coughed she pulled her mask down and coughed again....and that's who you have to look out for...the person who insists his/her weeping eyes, runny nose, and cough is allergies...and I can promise you within days you've got their "allergies"...
