Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsMy sons swear they never knew Cassidy Hutchinson.
She apparently went to high school with my sons, although she wasn't at either of their grade levels. They both say they never knew her. It is, the only way they're like Trump, except I think they're telling the truth.
It's kind of disturbing to learn that in my town there is a person who served the likes of vicious racists such as Cruz, Scalise, Meadows and Trump, her important expiation in testifying aside.
She sort of looks familiar but there is a sort of generic look to women of that age in this town.
For the last two decades, this town has been blue.

(7,850 posts)she worked for the worst dregs of the GOP...missing are Jordan, Gaetz, Hawley, Cotton, Graham Greene, Boebert, Gosar, but she's young and there was time...it's obvious the attack on the Capital scared her...if the coup had been successful would anyone know her name?

(29,067 posts)She's shown uncommon courage, especially when contrasted to the older, more powerful men around her.

(7,850 posts)25 years old and working for the Chief of Staff, referring to Rudy as Rudy.. Cassidy and Liz are not profiles in courage... Liz hates Trump more than she hates Democrats and the violent insurrection scared the hell out of Cassidy..

(29,067 posts)It's no freaking "meteoric rise". .She was the "assistant to the assistant" and had been a White House intern back in 2018.
I've known of a few "meteoric rises" among democrats too, and it doesn't get that kind of scrutiny. Give it a rest.

(7,850 posts)why the Republican Party..what's the attraction for a 24-25 year old?..predominately white, christian, racist, antisemitic, xenophobic, anti-choice, anti-voting rights, pro-guns, anti-obamacare/medicare/social security, pro-war, anti-lgbtq...populated by Cruz, Graham, Cotton, Hawley, Jordan, Gaetz, Greene, Boebert, Gosar, Brooks...and on and on..these are their heroes..

(29,067 posts)How is it appropriate to demand "What's the attraction" of the Republican party for her when we don't KNOW her?...She's a young woman -- Maybe she was raised in a very Conservative family, and community, who knows?..What we DO know is that she's shown uncommon courage, and that credit must be given where credit is due -- None of us is perfect.

(7,850 posts)we have a habit of bestowing praise on any Republican that has a moment of conscience...Liz Cheney bucking her party (not really... look at her voting record?) ..but she hates Trump more than she hate Democrats so you go, Liz...Rusty Bowser, Brad Raffensperger...fake electors, trolling for votes..very bad...would they vote for Trump again..you bet...
if the coup had been successful, Cassidy Hutchinson would have stayed silent...

in 2018...Truly sounds like you resent all the accolades she's getting because she belonged to the wrong party.

(7,850 posts)why the Republican Party...the party of exclusion rather than the Democratic Party...the party of inclusion?
and, yes, she's brave considering it's her party, her people threatening her safety

(29,067 posts)"the wrong party"..As an "aging" person I'd think you might understand that, especially since, background aside, she's done a good thing here -- Period. End of story.

(43,189 posts)This can be true in many locales because in America there are still enclaves of various nationalities/ethnicities that are fairly stable across multiple or several multiple generations. Many people stay put where they are born.

Another became a WWF wrestler and Playboy model. (Her brothers were all champion level wrestlers in high school.) I knew one of her brothers fairly well mostly in junior high, but didn't know his sister and wasn't even aware of her fame until recently.
I agree that it's no big deal but I'm startled that someone who traveled at a high level in fascist circles, and is now possessed of ambiguous worldwide fame, lived so close by my current town. I always think of my town as a civilized place, but perhaps I have blinders on.
