My ignore list is growing lately. Not RWers, necessarily. Just people who are here to annoy and nothing else. Is it just me?

(14,004 posts)posters who are negative all the time. Can't stand constant doom and gloom.

(46,051 posts)When it gets to be the Monty Python argument sketch, I go for ignore. Life is too short.

(12,265 posts)I don't block many unless they are really nasty.

(10,053 posts)I notice they have low number of comments, some are new and a couple quite old, wondered if they were just sleeping until they decide to attack. Not what I expect here.

(46,051 posts)For one thing, HIS TITLES WERE IN ALL CAPS. His screen name was also IN ALL CAPS.
Plus, he registered here in 2007 but had 165 posts, all in the last 90 days. Again, they don't spew RW talking points or arguments. It's more like trying to have an argument with John Cleese in the Monty Python sketch.
The one the other day had a screen name that meant "God of lies."

(21,487 posts)They will have a sign up date from a few years ago but a post count of around 500 to 1000. Sometimes the sign up date coincides with an election year.

(11,029 posts)Those are all thats on my ignore list. Id rather track trolls than ignore them.

(46,051 posts)The ones I've been noticing aren't going to get banned. They don't preach RW nonsense. They just annoy. That amuses some people.

(11,029 posts)But eventually they show their asses.

(33,525 posts)...the pretense that I can be civil, although said pretense is just that, pretense, since I am no such thing.
Lately I've taken a few of the more egregious members of my ignore list off of it, just for amusement since late in life, near the end of it, I'm seeing if I can develop a Shiran Kao. Mostly the effort is a failure, but the effort is fun and a way to make fun of myself as I approach the end.

(46,051 posts)I hope your journey is a good one.

(33,525 posts)That requirement is that to do it, one must have lived.
I have lived, perhaps more than I deserved.
Overall, all things considered, the journey such as it has been, and for the time being continues, has been joyous.
I've been unusually lucky.
Sincerely.

(3,642 posts)or anyone who wants to share their number. I have 29 on ignore, finally hued over these past three years. Some tried to pick a fight with me, while some I never interacted with but I found them to be so obnoxious I had to wish them into the cornfield.
I know some prefer to never block anyone, a sentiment I've read here and on the sports-related board I frequent, but I find it a necessary tool to enjoy this experience.

(36,865 posts)Many can no longer post here (eg. StarfishSaver/effieblack... though I think that entity is back). Time to clean up the list!
I ignore for a variety of reasons. For example, I have a few on ignore who post "Tweet of the _____ " all the time, as well as people who constantly post duplicate threads. Oh, and a finger-wagger or two! Lol!
Skittles
(153,169 posts)to be fair, I haven't gone through it in a long time, I bet lots of them are "flagged for review" or outright banned
also, I tend to ignore people who simply irritate me - like one guy who just constantly brags about himself, his life, his wife, his job.....endless.....outta here!

(17,444 posts)Personally, I have no one on ignore, and most likely never will.
However, I understand why some people use ignore.
I'm sure I'm on some ignore lists.
Just the way life is, both internet life, and real life.
The way I see it, everyone doesn't have to like me, and I don't have to like everyone.
If someone posts something I don't like, I just usually just breeze on by it. Unless it's one of the few hot button issues that I have, then I'll engage.
