played baseball with him until my son got tired and the ball was drenched in slobber.

Our great yellow Lab & my son, older then, however.
When he was much younger, we had the sweetest Border Collie ever. Poor girl accidentally rammed into a tree, trying to keep her eyes on the ball - we always thought that she'd damaged her eyesight a bit.
Dogs are THE BEST people.
