Thinking of car ownership and today's kids

This morning I flashed back to my teenage years. Having a car was huge. I actually got a car at 16, right after I got my license. My older brother gave me his old Rambler American after he crashed it. Wasn't in too bad of shape, I got a fender and bumper from a junkyard and got it on the road. I ha a parttime job, so later I got something nicer. If you pull into a school parking lot, there lots of nice cars. The kids drive better than the teachers. In my small HS there weren't more than a couple dozen kids who had cars.

I helped get my son a car while e was in HS. When he went to college he sold it, which I thought was a smart move. But he lived in the city and having his own car was not that big a deal He grew up using public transport and doesn't mind it. Most f the American population is urban and I think the time is coming where fewer people own cars. That would be a good thing.

Unfortunately, not all cities have good public transportation. nt CozyMystery Jul 2022 #1
