Bill Graham said they were the best band to play there. Among the many greats to grace his stages.

I was never at such a momentous occasion for them, just saw them in & around my hometown 4 times. Had tickets for the 5th time when Greg died and the concert was cancelled.

I will always remember that first time though. I had never heard them but a friend had been a roommate of theirs and was on me about you have to go. I dropped and sat through the first band, feeling heavy and sitting on the floor. Then Allman Brothers started, Statesboro Blues, and at Duanes first firey notes of the slide I was on my feet, just pulled way up with their brilliance and bluesiness and breeziness and jazz beats. I knew this was the best music I'd ever heard, by far!! Never quit thinking that and I was 18 then, and am 70 now.
