It is time to reevaluate the status of pineapple on pizza

My very favorite pizza shop in the entire United States is NY Pizza Suprema. It's on 8th Avenue in Manhattan, kinda kitty-corner from Madison Square Garden. They have incredible pizza. They've been voted "best slice in New York" more times than they can count.

Pizza Suprema is selling "Hawaiian pizza." It has fresh mozzarella, ham and pineapple on it.

And people in New York, where they take their pizza fuggin' serious, were eating it the last time I was in there.

ham and pineapple just seem to go together and it doesn't give me heartburn like most italian sausage pizza.

My other favorite is veggie with artichoke hearts.

Just don't call it pizza -call it something else like an Italian quesadilla maybe

Reserve the name "pizza" for food certified by New York Pizza experts.

Maybe pass a law that you can only call it pizza if it is made in Manhattan - like Champagne can only be made in a specific region of France.

New York pizza made in Queens is just as serviceable as New York pizza made in Manhattan.

If you like pineapple on your pizza, go for it. Eat whatever you want on your pizza. If you like truffles and caviar on your pizza, it's your pizza; enjoy! Pizza is the food of the gods. It makes sense to enjoy it in nearly every variation possible if that's what you want.

But then I love ketchup on hot dogs and everything else which is a cardinal sin here.

-One of the best pizzas I ever had was in Japan ironically. Maybe only an extreme pizza nerd would recognize the name "Onishi"...
