So we had someone come in to take care of a computer issue and in the process the technician downloaded a program that took several minutes to download. I told him that we periodically experienced problems with the streaming programs. He checked my internet download and upload speed and both were 10 Megs. He said that was very low. He did a Google search and showed me that Spectrum provides higher speed, but it usually costs $$.
After he left I checked Spectrum on Google to find out what Spectrum should be providing speed-wise at standard rates. It was 10 Megs for the uploading and 300 for the downloading. I obviously wasn't getting what we were paying for, and we pay a very high monthly charge.
Well, I didn't get around to calling the company, but my husband just showed me a text from Spectrum informing him that they automatically upgraded us to 300 Megs downloading speed. Just like that.
Was it an incredible coincidence? Or are they tapped into our google searches?

(46,757 posts)Everyone who has Spectrum should check their upload and download speed, and if they have less than 10 Megs for uploading and 300 Megs for downloading, do a google search and see what happens.

I don't have any problem with download or upload speed though I don't' do either often. I am planning to get a different service if I can find one that is cheaper. I hate spectrum.

Last time I contacted Spectrum was over a month ago when I swapped out their old internet modem for new one when I was having difficulty with internet connection. That plus installing my own new wi fi router fixed my problem.
