My cat has a career. I have written on this forum about how diligent he is about guarding the property. He seems to know the property perimeter and patrols it regularly.

In NJ, we have a drought. It is very bad and plants and trees everywhere are dying due to lack of water. The ground is covered with leaves that have dropped from the trees.

It is so bad that for the first time, rats have come around searching for water. I'm a gardener with extensive numbers of container plants and I think they find water in the drip saucer under the plant.

However:

This is Oliver. He is casually surveying his territory. He doesn't have a uniform, but he does have a portfolio (see below):


His casual demeanor is due to his confidence.
Literally, this cat is so fast that I want to change his name from Oliver to Bullet. He has his own cat door and when he comes in, he's so fast I can see only an orange blur.

I bagged this one up for removal, but then thought to take a picture of it. That's why it's in a bag.

We have seen no rats for a couple weeks now. I think word gets around.
